The Helen Ryde Memorial Fund
For 13 years, Helen Ryde poured their heart into Reconciling Ministries Network, working tirelessly for LGBTQ+ justice and inclusion in The United Methodist Church and beyond. Helen was more than a gifted organizer and trainer — they were a friend, a bridge-builder, and a living witness to God’s inclusive love.
With rare authenticity and courage, Helen carried people in all their multitudes. Their persistence helped open the doors of the Church at the 2024 General Conference and shaped the future of this movement in profound ways.
Helen’s legacy stretches across every corner of RMN. You may have been inspired or challenged by their teaching, encouraged by their advocacy, or simply shared a laugh over their unique humor (yes — including dipping French toast sticks in ketchup, which Helen assured us is “a perfectly normal British thing to do”).
We grieve with Helen’s wife, Kate—affectionately known as Mrs. Lovely—and with all who carry this loss with heavy hearts. And yet, we know the best way to honor Helen’s life is to continue the work they gave themselves to so fully.

That’s why RMN has established the Helen Ryde Memorial Fund. This fund is not limited to one program, because Helen’s influence touched every part of our mission. Gifts in their memory will:
- Equip Reconciling communities
- Sustain queer and trans leaders
- Resource churches and conferences for inclusive change
- Carry forward the vision Helen embodied of justice, joy, and radical welcome
Through this fund, Helen’s spirit will remain on the road ahead, continuing to transform the Church and the world.
Make a gift in Helen’s memory today.
Your generosity ensures that Helen’s legacy of love, courage, and inclusion will live on.
