Welcome to the Reconciling Ministries Network family! We’re so happy you’ve decided to share your story with us.

If you’re wanting to share why you’re committed to #BeTheWayForward, you’ve come to the right place!

There are so many ways you might share this story with us. Here are just a few of many suggestions:

  • Write a blog post about how you are being a part of the way forward for The UMC.
  • Send a short paragraph about why you are a monthly auto-giver, and why it’s important to you.
  • Record a video about why you’re committed to the Reconciling movement.

If this is your first time or you’re a returning contributor please read below:

  • Review our RMN Blogger Guidelines.
    • Blogs must be submitted as word documents.
  • Check out some of our suggestions for monthly blog topics below.
  • If you’re a new contributor:
    • You will need to submit a photo of yourself (or whatever you feel comfortable submitting) that is at least 80x80 pixels.
    • Additionally, you need to submit a 3-5 sentence biography for your author profile.

  • How have you seen LGBTQ people fulfilling their callings? How are you, as an LGBTQ person, fulfilling your calling in the church?
  • March 21st:  United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. How do the queer community and efforts to end racial discrimination intersect? How can we move toward the end of racial discrimination within our churces and world?
  • March 29: Maundy Thursday.
  • March 30: Good Friday.
  • March 31: Trans Day of Visibility. How can we celebrate the lives of the trans people in our midst? What awareness to we need to raise?

  • April 1: Easter. What does resurrection mean in this time, place, and church as an LGBTQ person? Where do you see resurrection in every day life?
  • April 4: Day of MLK Jr.’s assassination.
  • April 19: Day of Silence. How can we oppose the bullying of LGBTQ youth? Is the Day of Silence helpful? What are the ways in which LGBTQ youth are silenced in our schools and churches?

MAY 2018 BLOGGING PROMPTS

  • How have you seen LGBTQ people fulfilling their callings? How are you, as an LGBTQ person, fulfilling your calling in the church?
  • May 13: Mother’s Day. How has your mother or mother-figure shaped your life as an LGBTQ person? Or, as a mother of an LGBTQ person, how have you continued to embrace your child? What advice do you have for other parents? What role has your faith played? 
  • May 17: International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. Where do you see homophobia or transphobia in the church? How do you think the church can make reparations for harm done? How can we begin to rid the church of homophobia and transphobia? 
  • May 22: Harvey Milk Day. What does Harvey Milk’s work mean to you? How has it changed your life?
  • May 24: Aldersgate Day. This commemorates the day John Wesley found his heart “strangely warmed” and was convinced of his assurance in Christ. When have you felt your heart “strangely warmed” by God?
