– Laura Rossbert, Southeastern Jurisdiction Regional Organizer

Friends, it has been such a joy to have conversations with so many of you over the last few weeks as I hit the ground running as the Southeastern Jurisdictional organizer in April. However, there are so many of us doing this important work in the Southeast that I know there are many more of you that I have yet to talk to. I look forward to being in touch with you either via the internet, phone, or in person as I try to visit many Annual Conference events over the region in the coming month. I set my office hours: Mondays from 9:00-3:00 pm (CT), Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings, and Thursdays from 12:30-4:30 pm (CT). My office phone is (312) 448-3506, and my email is rossbert@rmnetwork.org. Please feel free to call me anytime, and I will be in touch with you as soon as I am able. As a member of the Tennessee Conference I know that there are specific issues we run across in the Southeast, and I’m hoping we can brainstorm together about how we continue the work of equality that is so important to ensuring that our church is a church for ALL people. It is a gift and a pleasure to be on this journey with you.

SURVEY

Help us grow the Reconciling Movement in your annual conference!

Nobody knows your particular setting better than you.  Are you aware of a Sunday school class, congregation, or other community that might be ready to explore Reconciling?  Help RMN become aware of potential Reconciling congregations, communities, and campus ministries in your annual conference and we’ll help them take the next step.  Please take a moment to complete this survey, providing the information we need to contact those who might be ready to learn more.

FLORIDA

We are excited about some conversations that are happening in Kentucky around reconciling work. If you would like to be a part of the work in Kentucky, please contact Laura Rossbert at rossbert@rmnetwork.org

Bishop Ken Carter will moderate the first “tweet meet” for the Florida Conference from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. EST today.

Laity and clergy members of the conference are invited to engage in online conversation about their journey or their church’s progress toward becoming disciples of Christ. Participants will need to have a Twitter account. They can sign up for one for free by going to www.twitter.com. The hashtag for the meeting will be #FLUMC2013.

“The goal is to have a meeting via social media that helps us to learn more about how we are becoming disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world and to hear from people who may enjoy communicating their experience in this unique way,” the bishop said.

Participants are encouraged to discuss their personal path to discipleship, as well as how nurturing disciples of Christ is playing out in their local church. They may also suggest activities they would like to see to enhance that experience.
