“The youth of Normal First United Methodist Church are a group of sixth to twelfth graders who desire to live out our faith. We welcome and affirm everyone, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex individuals, as well as people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds. We recognize each person is God’s beloved child. We believe God is loving and open. We see God in many different ways, and we pray and worship in a multitude of ways.
We do not allow hate speech. We are respectful of each person’s opinion. We encourage one another. We don’t gossip or talk about what is said at youth group. We are concerned with social justice issues. We go on mission trips to learn about how God is working in other areas of our world. We are also a group that likes to have fun together. We hang out together, play pool, video games, and ping-pong, and eat together.
Our group follows Safe Sanctuaries policies in order to protect each person.”
