“As a community within First United Methodist Church in Decorah, Iowa, we commit ourselves to be a Reconciling United Methodist Ministry, embracing as a gift the diversity of our neighborhood and the world. Our faith compels us to be intentional in the journey to full inclusion of all persons regardless of age, race, diversity of sexual orientation, gender identity, family configuration, ethnicity, nationality, faith history, marital status, level of wealth or poverty, physical and mental ability, and education.
We recognize that there are differences among us but believe we can act together in love to provide welcome to all who have known the pain of exclusion or discrimination in the church or in society. We dedicate ourselves to expanding our understanding by means of education, dialogue, witness, providing sanctuary, and demonstrating solidarity with all persons.
We invite all people to join us in our faith journey towards greater love, understanding, and mutual respect.
‘All this is from God who reconciled us through Christ, and who give us the ministry of reconciliation.’ -2 Corinthians 5:18″
