Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church is called to the ministry of the sacred worth of all people. We embrace as a gift, the diversity of our neighborhood and of the world. We welcome and affirm all races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities, faith histories, economic statuses, marital statuses, physical and mental abilities, education backgrounds, and any other differences real or perceived. We believe that all people are created in the image of God and all are worthy of God’s love and grace. We welcome with full inclusion, all people in the life and ministries of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church as we journey toward reconciliation through Jesus Christ. We recognize that there are differences among us, but believe as John Wesley said, “Though we are of different minds, we can be of one heart.” We proclaim this statement of welcome to all who have known the pain of exclusion and discrimination in the church or in society. We pledge to not be indifferent to injustice we encounter, but to instead pursue equality. We invite all people to join us in our faith walk towards being community.
