We are the United Methodist Church of Litchfield, Connecticut. We believe that all people are beloved children of God. We embody the concept of “Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors,” but we strive to be more; we want to be a church that opens hearts, opens minds, and opens doors. As such we find ourselves called to a reconciling ministry.
We strive to be in ministry that values those things that make us different: our gender, our gender identity, our sexual orientation, our race, our ethnicity, our nationality our age, our faith history, our economic status, our marital status, our physical and mental ability, our education and our personal history. We understand that the journey to an acceptance of God’s Grace in each person’s life is varied as there are people in the worlds. Our journeys are unique, and we appreciate the experience, the talents and the gifts that each person brings to the Body of Christ.
We accept that at times there may be a difference of opinion among us. We view this as not a reason to cause separation, but a path that will lead to greater understanding and mutual respect between us. We may not think alike, but we know we can love alike!
We invite you to join us, break bread with us as we deepen our faith, revel in God’s grace and love, love, love †.
Luke 10:27 NRSV
27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
