A Youth Experience
Current will provide a creative space for youth from all across the U.S. to explore, interact and grow. Youth groups and youth leaders from congregations are encouraged to come to San Antonio for this unique program for youth designed to uplift, renew, and empower our young people. LGBTQ youth and allies who have completed 6th through 12th grades are invited to engage in ally training specifically for the teenage world, to gather in creative ways of prayer and practice, to explore some of vibrant San Antonio, and to lay groundwork for building a sacred community of Reconciling Youth across the nation. Special arrangements can be made to make participation and housing affordable for youth teams.
Shelley Walters, Youth Coordinator for Current, is Director of Community Life at Trinity UMC, a Reconciling Congregation, in Austin, Texas. She previously served as Youth Director in two other Austin area congregations. She graduated from the University of Texas with a major in religious studies and is currently working toward an M.Div. degree at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She was so inspired by participating in the RMN convocation in 2013 and wants to share some of that passion, energy and spirit with youth from Texas and across the country at Gather at the River.
