The Washington Street United Methodist Church Active Faith Small Group voted on March 19, 2019 to become a Reconciling Community. As a small group that puts our faith into action, we welcome all people, including people of all sexual orientation and gender identity, to participate in our missions and efforts of serving God through serving our community.
We use John Wesley as a model for us to do no harm, and to do good works for the disenfranchised in Columbia, SC. We also feel strongly against social injustice. We are actively pursuing options opposing the decision made by the 2019 UMC General Conference. We feel that God’s world has no place for discrimination against any of his people.
Washington Street UMC is a welcoming, inclusive church and Active Faith Small Group carries that trait with us as we go about in the community serving the poor, disabled, and alienated. We welcome anyone who has a passion and calling for missions and social justice to join us in this endeavor.
