We, Christ United Methodist Church, hold sacred the open communion table and recognize open communion as a central tenet of Methodism. Communion is open to all who seek an understanding and relationship with God. We are blessed by the diversity of our neighborhoods and our world. We seek to be a blessing to our neighbors both locally and globally. We affirm that all people are created in the image of God which includes our differences in sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, faith history, economic status, marital status, physical and mental ability. We live out our faith by working to heal our broken world through social justice and change. We believe in the vision of John Wesley that we can love alike even if we do not think alike. We welcome questioning and doubt as expressions of great faithfulness. We proclaim this statement of welcome to all who have known the pain of exclusion or discrimination in the church or in society. We commit to be agents of change until all are fully embraced in our churches as God embraces us.
